Jan Alexander, Swirl of Ar-kansas, has landed a deal with the Little Rock minor league baseball park. The Arkansas Travelers, the AA affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, are scheduled to play at least 70 games at home this coming season. Jan will have two machines in the park to start, and hopes to add more as the sea-son progresses and the weather warms up.
On the park‟s first Kids‟ Day, they are ex-pecting 7,000 kids. Should be great for the SWIRL business!
Here’s hoping it’s a home run, Jan!
Chris Aldrich, Evolution Foods, tells how you sometimes have to get creative: “We had been trying for two years to get an appointment with the Food Service Manager at the University at Buffalo, the second largest university in New York State with 28,000 students. We could not even get a call through to the FSD on our own. I managed to make a contact with the student leader of the top business fraternity on campus this year, who is also a student representative on the university’s board of dining facilities. This individual was able to secure us an appointment with the FSD.”
“After several meeting with the FSD and the fraternity, we worked out a program in which Evolution Foods would supply SWIRL in all the dining halls on campus. The fraternity is acting as our liaison with each dining hall manager, and is doing samplings and making various marketing efforts to pro-mote the product. We are paying the fraternity a set commission on every case of SWIRL that is sold. The students are already forming a plan to sell the SWIRL program to other universities within their fraternity network.”
“In our case, the Food Service Manager places a high value on the relationship that we have developed with the fraternity as a learning tool. I have since done a two-hour lecture with the fraternity discussing entrepreneurship and our business model, and will continue to work with them as a business partner.”
What a great networking story,
and a win-win for all parties involved!

SWIRL Brands is pleased to introduce two new flavors to its product line-up: Green Tea and Peach Green Tea.
Both flavors are available now and are low-calorie, vitamin-enriched, refreshing beverages. In order to offer samples of these delicious flavors, Dealers can now order sample cases to give to their customers without having to break open a regular, sell able case.
These new flavors should appeal to anyone who enjoys the flavor of green tea such as college students, and may also do well placed in retirement homes, and teacher, faculty and hospital lounges.
YES and YES!
Ok, you may be wondering where we are and what’s over…..let me assure you the answer IS YES and YES!
I‟m officially retiring my own “language” about how bad 2009 was: the economy, snow storms, Wash-ington D.C., earthquakes, tsunamis and just about everything else that has been dragging me down. I had very little control over these things, they weren‟t my fault and they were problems I couldn‟t do much about. Therefore, it‟s official: YES!
YES, I will stop using excuses and YES I will make changes! What changes? I‟m going back to what made sense and cents. I‟ve never won the lottery so I will stop betting that I will, and I can safely assume Obama is not going to send me a couple million of those stimulus dollars. It‟s up to me!
It‟s time for all of us to be a part of the recovery, not a part of the problem. Are you ready for something new and exciting, however still find yourself doing the same things that aren‟t getting you where you want to go? Are sales down but scratching your head isn‟t making it better? Have I hit a nerve yet? I hope so and I want to assure you that if I haven‟t, you‟re lucky… and if I have, don‟t feel alone. It has, is, or will happen to all of us!
The answer: simple basics. What are your basics? Do you know your basic steps? Do you know what works and what doesn‟t? How much time have you given to thinking about changing what you‟re doing and what you‟re focusing on? I‟ve decided to stop wasting time on people, places and things that aren‟t helping SWIRL be successful. I am going to stop let-ting things I can‟t control… control ME!
It‟s time to get selfish and work harder for and with the customers that help make things work! Who are those customers? I‟m going after MORE like them! Who are the customers that drain us mentally AND financially? Let‟s get FEWER of them and bring in the strong ones!
This is all simple to say, however not easily done. Be honest with yourself and chart what you do to make the sale, then create a list of what worked when a successful sale was made. Then repeat. Again and again. Doing good things (the basics) makes good things happen!
Nothing will change unless we all decide to make it happen! We all are smart enough to realize there is NO reason to wait, and also know that NO ONE will do it for us… so let‟s get SWIRL ‘N Motion!!

David Hart, SWIRL Brands of Tennessee, continues to find new customers amongst the schools and colleges in Tennessee. His recent additions include three machines at TN State U, four at East TN State U, one at The University of the South and one at St. Andrews School. David is working his contacts and keeping his eye on his goals.
Swirlin’ along,
and not even a year old yet!
Well done, David!
Florida State University in Tallahassee is installing four SWIRL machines in their baseball stadium concession stands this spring. The Seminoles will play 48 games at home from mid-February to the end of May in the 6,700-person stadium. They will be serving Cherry and Orange Mango only, as those most closely match the team colors of garnet and gold.
Go Seminoles! We’re looking for a winning season!
During the final days of the campaign to fill Senator Kennedy‟s seat, Gene LaPierre, New England SWIRL, dropped off a SWIRL To Go freezer and a couple cases of To Go’s at the Brown campaign offices in Holyoke, MA. Gene wanted to make sure the phone volunteers had a delicious and nutritious treat to keep them enthused and energized in the final hours of the campaign.
In a stunning upset victory a few days later, Brown defeated his opponent.
We‟re thinking the SWIRL might have had something to do with that.
